Waterfront Landings (Phase 1 & 3)

JGL was hired by the developer to review plans and make recommendations for interior sound isolation and exterior noise control for this 300 unit wood frame project on the waterfront in downtown Seattle. Phase 1 of this project is shown to the right and Phase 3 is shown below.

The primary acoustic challenges with this project included noise from the Alaskan Way Viaduct, which is a 4 lane elevated highway, plus noise and vibration from the Burlington Northern freight trains that pass within 25 feet of the east face of all 3 phases of the project.. The 55 mph highway passes less than 60 feet from the southeast corner of Phase 1.
