9th Avenue, Seattle, WA
This office
building is located in downtown Seattle, WA, and JGL Acoustics,
Inc. was involved in the design of the noise and vibration control
of the HVAC system. This building has a unique custom rooftop unit
which uses 9 plenum fans that act in parallel, but are not physically
arranged in parallel inside the unit. The rooftop unit covers a
major portion of the roof, and the goal was to achieve low background
noise levels in the top floor offices, many of which were directly
under the HVAC equipment. The noise from the reciprocating compressors
was one of the main concerns with this project. The custom unit
was installed on a seismic rated spring isolation curb manufactured
by Mason Industries, and the developer and occupant were equally
pleased with the results.
